Wake The Muscle Up
NMES is not yet open at IZEL, so we are not taking bookings for it and no appointment can be made. Everything below explains what it is and how it is intended to be used, so you can decide whether it is worth your time when it opens. If it is, register your interest and we will get in touch then.

A mild electrical current is delivered to the nerve supplying the muscle, prompting it to contract without you initiating the movement. That effect is studied for muscle activation where pain, injury or a period of inactivity has left a muscle working poorly, which is why NMES is explored as support during rehabilitation rather than as a replacement for exercise.
Who it's for
- Struggling to activate a muscle that has gone quiet after injury or rest
- Working through a rehabilitation plan where one muscle is holding progress back
- Wanting something that supports prescribed exercise rather than substitutes for it
What to expect
A pulling sensation as the muscle tightens and releases in a rhythm. It feels unfamiliar at first, so your physiotherapist works up to a level you are comfortable with and stays with you throughout. It is paired with the exercise you have been prescribed rather than used on its own.
Not used if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electrical device, not applied over the front of the neck, and not placed on broken or numb skin; caution applies in pregnancy.
NMES is used only within a physiotherapist-led plan following assessment, never as a standalone purchase. Suitability is decided at that assessment and we will say so plainly if it is not right for you. Where the underlying problem needs medical investigation we refer you on: IZEL is not a hospital and does not replace specialist medical care.
We are not taking bookings for NMES and nothing can be reserved today. Leave your details and we will let you know once it opens — no appointment is made, and no time is held.
